AlphaGo vs. Human: Can AI beat the ultimate board game?

Google's AI system AlphaGo defeats legendary Go player Lee Se-dol in historic victory.

 A great milestone has been reached in the field of artificial intelligence(AI). AlphaGo is a software program developed by Google's DeepMind unit.  It has defeated legendary Go player Lee Se-dol in the first of five historical matches held in Seoul, Korea. 

Mr. Lee resigned after about three and a half hours play The series is the first time a professional 9-dan(9th level, the highest level) Go player has taken on a compute. Mr. Lee is competing for a $1 million prize. He said that "I was very surprised, I didn't expect to lose. I didn't think AlphaGo would play the game in such a perfect manner." 

Go is an ancient Chinese board game. It has long been considered one of the great challenges faced by AI. The computer programs best the world's leading human players of games. Google's DeepMind AlphaGo software program is the most advanced effort. Using a complex system of deep neural networks and machine learning. 


DeepMind founder Demis Hassabis expressed, "huge respect for Lee Se-dol and his amazing skills." Lee will face off against AlphaGo again March 10th and March 12th. 13th, 15th(11pm ET the previous evenings in the US). Whatever happens in the rest of the series, AlphaGo's victory on March 9th is a colossal moment for AI.


HISTORY OF THE GAME OF GO 

The Go game was originated in China more than 2,500 years ago. Confucius wrote about the game and it is considered one of the four essential arts required of any true Chinese scholar. This Go game played by more than 40 million people worldwide. The rules of the game are very simple. Players take turns to place black or white stones on a board. And trying to capture the opponent's stones or surround empty space to make points of territory.
